About Edward Potter, CAE

For Ed, civil society and solidarity economy organizations and socio-economic development have been twin passions throughout a 30-year professional career. He launched Worldwise Civil Society to unite those passions to empower organizations in emerging economies to achieve their full potential as catalysts in locally-led socioeconomic development.

 

As an international development practitioner, he has conceptualized and led projects abroad with private voluntary organizations, global foundations, and associations worldwide. He has collaborated with funders including the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), private and public foundations, public charities, and corporations. He has managed project portfolios as large as $7 million focused on cooperative development, microinsurance, HIV/AIDS education and prevention, legal and regulatory reform, citizen participation, and youth development.

 

​Ed has over 15 years of executive leadership experience with international civil society organizations (including trade, professional, philanthropic associations, and foundations) and solidarity enterprise organizations (including cooperative and mutual enterprises). As a certified association executive (CAE), he has demonstrated knowledge and expertise in executive leadership, governance, organizational strategy, operations, business development, member and stakeholder engagement, advocacy, and marketing and communication.

 

​A graduate of the University of Michigan, he serves as chairman of the Institute for Management Consultants Nonprofit Consultants Network and is a member of the Development Executive Group (DEVEX) and American Society of Association Executives (ASAE).  He is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese.
